Question refreshing (cloning) Enterprise Portal environment

Hi,

I have to create a production environment from a development environment. I have copied the file server and application server files and created the database, but I am trying to figure out exactly what to copy from the web server environment. I have copied everything under bea/wlserver/conf/peoplesoft/applications/PORTAL/ps to the same directory structures on the new web server.

Problem is the links on the left hand navigation pane do not work in the new environment.

Anyone have a list of steps for refreshing, or cloning, a Portal environment??

TIA,

SureDBA (more like unsureDBA)

PeopleSoft recommends re-installing PIA when when refreshing/cloning an environment. It seems possible, though I have never done it.

For best results, when refreshing/cloning, I would do a re-install of PIA.

Hi Batman,

Thanks for the quick reply. There are a lot of customizations in the Portal. Would we then have to reapply them the the new PIA environment?

When you say customizations, what type of customizations? With your reply, I'm guessing that you have made customizations outside of PeopleSoft? I would then copy the directories that have your customizations in them and apply them to the new instance.

If you mean something else, let me knnow.

Copy it all!

You should copy all changed delivered code and all custom code. And I would use some form of change control (like Visual SourceSafe or CVS) to manage the "static" pages of your environments.
